Pond Life Watching a Pond Grow |

January 2008 The pond slipped into winter dormancy during october and so there was not much to show. During October/November we put up a net over the pond that caught most of the leaves from trees that are near by. I cut back most of the plants and left about half of the taller plants for some shelter. The grasses continued to do fine all winter.
Here you can see that the pond is iced over and that I have cut the reeds and grasses back that are in the pond.
My Carnivorous Plant bog continued to survive nicely with the frost. The plants go into a dormancy from October to March but some like the Purpurea Ssp.purpurea still looked nice even in the winter. Next Page : March 2008
