April 2011

As in previous years the Tadpoles devoloped and grew quickly throughout April. The plants also started to grow faster. The waterlily was much early to produce its first leaves this year after having a good summer in 2010. I also did a "Spring clean" in April which explains the piles of plant material around the edge of the pond in the top two photos. The biggest change that took place in April was the replanting of the bog with new plants and the removal of the grasses that had previously been there. They had taken over the bog and it looked quite messy. The carnivorous plant area of the bog was kept intact and the rest was dug up and replanted.

Tadpoles clustered on the remains of the spawn.

The newly replanted bog, a few tweaks were made later in the month...

The Butterworts in the CP area were just about to flower again...

Pond later in the month as some flowers started to come out such as the Marsh Marigold and Bogbean.
